Content creator Milly Chebby has shared details of her ectopic pregnancy experience, revealing that she became pregnant while using a contraceptive coil (IUD) — a situation that later turned into a medical emergency.
Speaking about the unexpected discovery, Milly admitted she initially ruled out pregnancy because she was on birth control.
“I didn’t think it could be a pregnancy because I was on contraception,” she said.
The influencer explained that she had chosen the coil as a reliable family planning method, making the positive pregnancy test both surprising and confusing.
However, what followed was far more serious than she had anticipated.
Milly recounted the emotional moment she confirmed she was pregnant. She revealed that her husband, comedian Terence Creative, did not immediately know what was happening.
“When I took the test, he (Terence) did not even know. The internal bleeding was so bad. I gave him the kit and he was excited. I was looking at him thinking, ‘I wish he knew,’” she revealed.
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, most commonly in the fallopian tube.
The condition cannot proceed normally and can become life-threatening if not treated promptly.
Milly later underwent surgery to address the ectopic pregnancy. In previous updates, she disclosed that the complication led to the removal of one of her fallopian tubes.
After the procedure, she expressed gratitude to her fans and supporters who stood by her during the difficult period.
“Healing slowly but surely. The past few days have reminded me just how powerful love and kindness can be. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the messages, prayers, and well wishes; every word lifted me,” the content creator said.
The intrauterine device (IUD) is considered one of the most effective contraceptive methods, with a success rate of over 99 percent.
However, no birth control method is 100 percent foolproof.
While pregnancy on an IUD is rare, when it does occur, there is a slightly higher likelihood that it could be ectopic compared to pregnancies conceived without contraception.
