NAIROBI, Kenya— The African School of Governance (ASG) has concluded its presidential tour across five economic and political hubs, announcing its formal entry into the continent’s education and public policy space.
The tour carried out in Nairobi, Lagos, Cairo, Maputo, and Abidjan aims to reshape Africa’s leadership pipeline to boost the continent’s economy through reshaping public policy.
The tour, which was led by ASG President and former Nigerian central banker Professor Kingsley Moghalu, introduced stakeholders to what is being hailed as Africa’s most ambitious institutional investment in governance and leadership education to date.
The initiative drew interest from government leaders, development financiers, multilateral organizations, and the private sector all aligned around a shared vision of accelerating Africa’s transformation through purpose-driven, homegrown leadership.
“The question won’t be what you studied or where. In ten years, the question will be, have you joined ASG?” Professor Moghalu told delegates at a high-level governance summit in Nairobi.
Backed by partnerships with top global institutions including the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore ASG is positioning itself as a pan-African hub for strategic leadership development.
Its flagship Master of Public Administration (MPA), launching this September, is tailored for mid-career professionals seeking to lead across government, civil society, and corporate sectors.
Unlike traditional graduate schools, ASG’s MPA program is rooted in African socio-political and economic contexts, equipping students aged 25 to 50 with the tools to drive policy innovation, institutional reform, and ethical governance.
The curriculum, co-designed with both African and global thought leaders, emphasizes case-based learning, executive immersion, and direct engagement with senior policymakers and private sector executives.
With recruitment for its first cohort closing in July, ASG is targeting 40–50 candidates from across Africa.
Tuition stands at $15,000 (Sh1,938,000) annually, with a robust scholarship fund to ensure equitable access.
Beyond academics, ASG aims to excel in corporate governance, public finance, and regional policy leadership by 2027.
The school aims to serve as a catalyst for governance innovation across both the public and private sectors, bridging the talent gap that has long hindered Africa’s growth potential.
