Kenya’s sports broadcasting landscape is set for a shake-up with the launch of SportyFM Kenya, a 24-hour sports radio station going live on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with official programming beginning the following day. The station will air on 105.0 FM in Nairobi and 97.3 FM in Mombasa.
At the heart of this venture is Carol Radull, one of the most influential sports journalists and broadcasters in East Africa. With over two decades of experience, a reputation for integrity, and a loyal following, Radull is stepping into a leadership role at the forefront of a pan-African media movement.
According to Radull, SportyFM Kenya aims to deliver more than match results. Its mantra is “Beyond Sport,” a promise to explore the stories, culture, and emotions that make sports such a central part of Kenyan life.
The station’s flagship show, The Kick-Off, will air every morning at 6:00 a.m., setting the tone with analysis, previews, and discussion. Programming will cover both local and global sports:
Kenyan Leagues: FKF Premier League, women’s football, rugby sevens, and athletics.
International Coverage: English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, NFL, NBA, Formula 1, and major boxing bouts.
Fan Engagement: Shows designed to give supporters a voice, including phone-ins, social media integration, and fan panel discussions.
The Kenyan launch comes on the heels of SportyFM’s debut in Ghana earlier in the year. SportyFM is part of the Sporty Group, which also operates SportyBet and SportyTV, creating a multi-platform sports ecosystem spanning betting, live TV, and now radio.
Unlike her earlier projects, which were part of broader entertainment or general radio stations, SportyFM Kenya is all-sports, all-day—a format that allows sports to be the centre stage.
The launch of SportyFM Kenya under Radull’s leadership is significant given – Kenya’s radio space has long been dominated by stations focusing on music and talk shows, with sports coverage limited to specific slots. A 24/7 sports station changes that dynamic. SportyFM Kenya will also provide a platform for young sports journalists, analysts, and commentators to hone their craft under Radull’s mentorship.
Radull opens the station’s programming at 6 a.m. on Monday, August 18, featuring daily previews, expert analysis, and seamless integration with digital platforms. Joining her in delivering this content are:Nicolette White,Hilda Cheptoo,Joshua Kwanya,Diamond Okusimba,Joe Saina,Louis Muhana, Peter Kirumba
Together, this lineup brings a mix of journalism, athlete experience, and regional insight, enhancing both depth and relatability of the station’s broadcasts.
