NAIROBI, Kenya — If you’re a fresh Kenyan graduate itching to make your mark in finance, tech, or communications, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) just dropped an opportunity you’ll want to jump on.
On April 25, 2025, CBK officially announced its 2025 Internship Program, inviting degree holders across various fields to apply before the May 16 deadline.
The year-long internship is designed to sharpen professional skills and open doors for young graduates in Kenya’s competitive job market — but fair warning: the clock is already ticking.
What You Need to Know About the CBK Internship Program
The CBK internship will run for 12 months, after which participants will exit to pursue other career opportunities. While completion of the program doesn’t guarantee employment at the Central Bank, it significantly boosts your eligibility to apply for future openings at the institution.
According to CBK’s official notice, the internships span several departments, including Finance, Research, Banking and Payment Services, Communications, Human Resources, Internal Audit and Risk, General Services, and Information Technology.
Applicants must be:
- Kenyan citizens aged between 21 and 29 years.
- Recent graduates (within 24 months of May 16, 2025) holding degrees or master’s in fields like Finance, Economics, Statistics, ICT, HR, Communications, and related disciplines.
- First-time interns — if you’ve already done an internship or gained professional experience in your area of study, you’re not eligible.
Successful candidates must also have valid medical insurance for the full internship period, whether through SHIF or a reputable private insurer.
How to Apply for the CBK Internship
Applying is refreshingly simple — but you need to move fast.
Start by heading over to Eagle HR’s application portal where you’ll create an applicant profile. After completing your registration, you’ll be required to upload key documents like:
- Academic certificates and transcripts
- Recommendation or reference letter from your university
Be sure everything is accurate and complete because late or incomplete applications won’t even be looked at. The final submission deadline is May 16, 2025.
Pro tip: CBK has made it clear that canvassing (a.k.a. lobbying for favors) will automatically disqualify you — so let your credentials and passion speak for themselves.
CBK’s Commitment to Equal Opportunity
The Central Bank emphasized that it remains an equal opportunity employer, strongly encouraging women, persons with disabilities, and individuals from marginalized communities to apply.
While no job offer is promised at the end of the internship, completing the program places you in a great position for future opportunities with CBK — and beyond.
So if you’re a dynamic, tech-savvy, customer-focused graduate ready to dive into one of Kenya’s most respected institutions, this could be the career launchpad you’ve been waiting for.
