NAIROBI, Kenya – China is set to construct a Sh5 billion mixed-use development at the Jamhuri Showground in Nairobi, in a project hailed as a major boost to Kenya’s investment climate.
President William Ruto on Wednesday presided over the groundbreaking of the China–Kenya International Commerce Centre, which will feature a five-star hotel, a modern exhibition and trade hub, and other commercial facilities.
The 68,000-square-metre project is expected to directly create at least 3,000 jobs and breathe new life into the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) grounds, which have long been underutilised.
“This investment is a resounding vote of confidence in our economy — a stable, predictable environment that rewards enterprise and guarantees fair returns to investors,” President Ruto said in a post on X.
