NAIROBI, Kenya – The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has raised the alarm over a fraudulent TikTok account impersonating the agency and conning unsuspecting Kenyans.
In a public alert shared on its verified X page, the Authority warned that the TikTok handle @NTSAKNYA is not affiliated with NTSA and urged the public to avoid engaging with the account.
The agency has also called on users to report the account to relevant authorities including the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the National Police Service (NPS), and TikTok itself.
“Do not subscribe to @NTSAKNYA on TikTok. Do not share your personal information with unauthorized persons,” read the NTSA alert, accompanied by a bold “TikTok Scam” warning banner.

NTSA further advised victims who may have been defrauded through the fake account or via the associated phone number, +254204401894, to report the incidents at the nearest police station for further action.
The agency emphasized that it only communicates through its official platforms:
- X: @ntsa_kenya
- Facebook: NTSA KENYA
- Instagram: @ntsa_kenya
- Website: www.ntsa.go.ke
- Email: info@ntsa.go.ke
- Phone: 0709932000 / 0709932300
All applications and payments for NTSA services, including driver’s license renewal and vehicle inspection bookings, are processed exclusively via the government’s eCitizen platform.
“Never share your personal information with anyone claiming to be from NTSA outside our official communication channels,” the statement added.
This warning comes amid growing concern over the use of social media platforms by fraudsters to impersonate government agencies, exploit public trust, and solicit illegal payments or private data.
NTSA, established under the NTSA Act No. 33 of 2012, is mandated to implement road safety policies, regulate vehicle registration and inspection, oversee public service vehicles, and advise government on transport-related matters.
The agency is also tasked with enhancing road safety through public education and data-driven strategies.
Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and verify any NTSA-related information before taking action — especially when it involves making payments or sharing personal details online.
