DCI Announces Leadership Changes with New RCIOs for Coast and Nyanza

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), led by Mohamed Amin, has announced a series of leadership changes within the organization, including the appointment of new Regional Criminal Investigations Officers (RCIOs) for Coast and Nyanza.

These changes, made public on April 16, follow a wave of recent promotions within the National Police Service Commission.

Daniel Kandie, the former deputy head of the Economic and Commercial Crimes Unit (ECCU), has been appointed as the new RCIO for the Coast region, replacing Adan Guyo.

Guyo has been promoted to DCI headquarters as the new director of the inspection unit.

George Mutonya, previously the County Criminal Investigations Officer in West Pokot, will now serve as the RCIO for Nyanza, taking over from George Kisaka.

Kisaka has also been promoted and moved to DCI headquarters, where he has been named the deputy head of the investigations bureau.

The DCI has also appointed a new director of operations at its headquarters, with Samson Kiptum, the former RCIO for North Eastern, stepping into the role.

Kiptum replaces Richard Mwaura, who was transferred to the Kenya National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons.

The changes, officials noted, were driven by recent promotions within the force, which include several notable individuals.

These include Dr. Mwangi Wanderi, who was promoted to Director of Human Capital Development, Mathew Kutoh, now Principal Assistant to the Inspector General, and Adamson Bungei, who was appointed Director of Operations at Vigilance House.

The promotions also included senior officers such as James Kabo, Commandant of the National Police Service Airwing, and Sospeter Munyi, Commandant of the National Criminal Investigations Academy.

Catherine Wanjiku Mugwe was promoted to Director of Personnel, and Judy Jebet became the Director of Community Policing.

Among those promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG) were officers from the Administration Police Service (APS), including Lazarus Opicho, Hesborn Lusweti, Jackson Kangami, and Hoseah Limo.

From DCI, Francis Ndiema was promoted to SAIG.

Additionally, Michael Muchiri Nyaga, the Director of Corporate Communication, and Edward Ochola, Chief Transport Officer-APS, were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG).

A total of 51 other officers, including those in key regions such as Coast, Nairobi, and Central, were elevated to the rank of AIG.

These changes are expected to bring a fresh approach to tackling crime across the country, as the new team focuses on addressing various challenges within the law enforcement system.
