NAIROBI, Kenya – A football fan’s celebration turned to frustration after his car was stolen while parked along Kisauni Road behind Nairobi West Hospital during the World Cup Qualifiers match between Kenya’s Harambee Stars and Gabon’s national team at Nyayo Stadium.
The Toyota IST, silver in color, bearing registration number KBN 093B, was parked at 3:40 p.m. as the owner joined thousands of fans at the stadium for the highly anticipated showdown.
Unfortunately, Kenya suffered a 2-1 loss to the Aubameyang-led Gabonese team, and the night became worse for the fan when he returned around 7:00 p.m. to find his car missing.
The distraught owner filed a report at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata and provided proof of ownership.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Lang’ata has since launched investigations and circulated the vehicle’s details as stolen.
In another incident, police in Juja are probing the theft of a white Toyota Axio, registration number KCR 628U.
The car was stolen from a residential home in Matangi area, near Rurii Primary School in Kimbo.
The owner had parked it outside the house on Saturday night, only to discover it missing the following morning.
Both incidents have prompted the DCI to appeal to the public for assistance.
Anyone with information about the stolen vehicles is urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the National Police Service via hotlines 999, 911, 112, or 0800722203.
Police continue to caution vehicle owners to be vigilant and ensure their cars are parked in secure locations. Investigations into the two cases are ongoing.
