NAIROBI, Kenya– Equity Bank (Kenya) Limited has appointed Kamal Anantroy Bhatt and Jai Kamal Bhatt of Anant Bhatt LLP as Joint Receivers and Managers of East Land Hotel Limited, following the company’s financial challenges effective September 9, 2025.
According to the notice published under the Insolvency Act, No. 18 of 2015, the Receivers are now in charge of directing the affairs and business of the hotel.
“The powers of the Receivers extend to all assets and undertakings of the company. Only the Receivers and their representatives are authorised to deal with the company’s assets,” the notice stated.
The move effectively removes the directors’ authority to manage or transact the company’s assets.
Any attempt to engage with the hotel’s property without the Receivers’ written consent is considered illegal and could attract legal action.
The directors have been given 12 days to submit a Statement of the Company’s Affairs in the prescribed format. The Receivers will act on behalf of the company without any personal liability.
Stakeholders, including creditors and customers, are advised to direct all claims, queries, and related matters to the Receivers at Anant Bhatt LLP, located on the first floor of City House, Nyerere Avenue, Mombasa, or via the organization’s email.
Kamal Anantroy Bhatt said, “Our mandate is to stabilise the company’s operations while ensuring the bank’s interests are protected.”
Jai Kamal Bhatt added, “We will manage the hotel’s assets in accordance with the law, and all dealings will go through the Receivers’ office.”
Anant Bhatt LLP, ranked third globally in the TAG Alliances network with over 280 member firms in more than 110 countries, will oversee the restructuring process.
