Gospel singer Evelyne Wanjiru has publicly celebrated her husband and long-time music producer Agundabweni Akweyu, crediting him for the consistent growth, stability, and excellence of her ministry over the years. The award-winning worship leader shared the tribute during a recent address to her fans, highlighting the role Akweyu has played behind the scenes in shaping her sound and strengthening the structures that support her music career.
Wanjiru, known for chart-topping worship anthems such as Mungu Mkuu, Hossana, and Celebrate, emphasized that her journey has been a joint effort built on teamwork, shared vision, and unwavering support. She noted that while the public often interacts with her as the face of the ministry, much of the strategic work, creativity, and technical decision-making happens under Akweyu’s leadership.

Agundabweni Akweyu is recognized in Kenya’s gospel industry as a producer, songwriter, and creative director with years of experience in audio production and artist development. He is also the co-founder of Bwenieve Productions, the label under which many of Wanjiru’s projects have been produced.
In her remarks, Wanjiru acknowledged his guidance in shaping the quality of her sound, managing production timelines, structuring her band, and overseeing the visual and technical elements that accompany her music releases. She noted that Akweyu’s commitment to excellence has been instrumental in helping her ministry maintain its relevance across changing musical trends.
“He has been the person making sure everything works even when people only see the final result,” she shared. “Every project, every stage setup, every release—he has been there pushing, building, and ensuring the ministry stays strong.”
Wanjiru and Akweyu, who have been married for over a decade, have often described their relationship as a partnership built on shared purpose. The couple has navigated both personal and professional milestones, including their long-awaited transition into parenthood, which they publicly celebrated in 2022.
Throughout their career, they have worked closely to expand Evelyne’s ministry from a Kenyan platform into a regional and global presence. Their collaborative efforts have seen her perform on major worship stages across Africa, Europe, and North America, while also maintaining strong engagement with Kenyan audiences.

In her acknowledgment, Wanjiru highlighted the importance of strong support structures for artists, especially those balancing ministry responsibilities with commercial demands. She said that having a partner who understands both the creative and managerial sides of the industry has allowed her to grow with confidence and consistency.
She pointed out that ministry success is rarely an individual achievement but a product of shared effort between artists, managers, producers, and spiritual mentors. By publicly crediting her husband, Wanjiru sought to spotlight the value of the often-unseen contributors who keep ministries functional and sustainable.
