CALIFORNIA, U.S. – Former Deputy President and Democratic Change Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has taken his “WanTam” rallying cry to the heart of America’s tech capital, Silicon Valley, as part of his ongoing tour of the United States.
On Friday, Gachagua inscribed the phrase “WanTam” — shorthand for “one term” — on a famous wall at a Silicon Valley innovation hub, a symbolic jab at President William Ruto, whose re-election bid he is openly opposing ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua, who has been on an extended tour of the U.S., said Kenya needs a “total reset” of its economic, political, and moral foundations, warning that the country is on a “dangerous path” that must be corrected for the sake of future generations.
Speaking to members of the Kenyan diaspora in California, he pledged to champion electoral justice, constitutionalism, good governance, and youth inclusion in politics.
He accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of “abusing national institutions” and failing to address corruption, extrajudicial killings, police brutality, and violence against women and young people.

The former DP also engaged with American tech innovators and business leaders, saying Kenya must position itself to benefit from global advancements in technology.
The slogan, popular among his supporters, is a shorthand warning to President Ruto that he will not secure a second term in 2027.
Gachagua has adopted the phrase as part of his political messaging, framing himself as the leader who will “liberate” Kenya from what he calls “poor leadership and social injustice.”
Since arriving in the U.S., Gachagua has made stops in Boston, Massachusetts, Maryland, Seattle, and Dallas, holding town hall meetings and meeting diaspora leaders to rally support for his campaign.
