Former DP Rigathi Gachagua To Launch New Party in May 2025

Date:

NYERI, Kenya – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has confirmed plans to launch a new political party in May 2025, but is keeping its name and finer details secret for now, citing fears of sabotage.

Gachagua, who has been increasingly vocal in his criticism of the current administration, said he and his allies have been holding extensive consultations across the country to build a strong political movement.

“The party is ready, but I will not reveal the name today. We will unveil it in a colorful ceremony in May,” he said. “This is a strategic decision to prevent interference.”

He revealed that he has been meeting leaders from Samburu, Kisii, Western Kenya, Ukambani, and other regions, signaling efforts to build a broad national coalition.

For the past three months, Gachagua said he has been working tirelessly, starting his days at 5 a.m. and wrapping up past midnight, in an effort to solidify his political base.

“I never sleep before midnight,” he stated. “Initially, I thought only my people were affected, but I now see that frustration with this regime cuts across the entire country.”

Gachagua’s latest remarks add to growing speculation about his political future as he positions himself for a potential comeback in the 2027 elections.

His remarks come amid speculation about his next political move after his fallout with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
