NAIROBI, Kenya — Police have arrested four suspects and recovered a significant quantity of narcotics in two separate operations conducted in Nairobi, as authorities intensify the fight against drug trafficking in residential areas.
In the first operation, officers from South B Police Station, acting on intelligence provided by members of the public, raided a makeshift structure along the Ngong River in the Kayaba slums, Makadara Sub-County. The operation was led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).
During the raid, police recovered six kilogrammes of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, alongside 29 rolls of a green plant material believed to be the same drug.
Investigators say the narcotics were likely meant for distribution within the area.

In a separate incident later in the evening, officers from Kahawa West Police Station arrested a suspect during a routine patrol in the Kenyatta Market area of Kasarani Sub-County.
The suspect was found in possession of 150 rolls of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, as well as three cookies believed to have been laced with cannabis.
The two operations resulted in the arrest of four suspects, who are currently being held in police custody pending arraignment.
Police say the arrests underscore the National Police Service’s continued commitment to dismantling drug networks and safeguarding communities from the social and health risks associated with narcotics abuse.
Authorities have also praised members of the public for sharing timely intelligence, noting that community cooperation remains critical to successful law enforcement efforts.
