Fuel Prices Unchanged in February Review, Epra Confirms

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has maintained the current fuel prices for the period of February 15 to March 14, 2025, offering motorists and households temporary relief amid fluctuating global oil prices.

In a statement released on Friday, EPRA announced that the pump prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene would remain at Sh176.58, Sh167.06, and Sh151.39 per litre in Nairobi, respectively.

The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT), as mandated by the Finance Act 2023 and other relevant tax laws.

Consumers in other major towns will pay slightly different rates, with Super Petrol retailing at Sh173.43 in Mombasa, Sh175.80 in Nakuru, and Sh176.62 in Eldoret and Kisumu.

Diesel prices will stand at Sh168.82 in Mombasa, Sh166.63 in Nakuru, and Sh167.45 in Eldoret. Kerosene will cost Sh148.15 in Mombasa, Sh151.01 in Nakuru, and Sh151.82 in Kisumu and Eldoret.

The decision to keep prices unchanged follows a January review that saw marginal increases across all fuel categories.

In that cycle, Super Petrol rose by Sh0.29 per litre, Diesel by Sh2, and Kerosene by Sh3.

EPRA noted that the current pricing structure is based on the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, which govern the calculation of maximum retail prices.

The Authority also factored in excise duty adjustments linked to inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

While the latest review provides price stability, industry analysts warn that future adjustments will largely depend on international crude oil prices and currency exchange rates, key factors in determining local pump prices.

Consumers now have a month of predictable fuel costs before the next scheduled review on March 14, 2025.
