NYERI, Kenya – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his efforts to consolidate his political influence, meeting with over 80 former Nairobi councillors in his latest round of strategic consultations.
The Tuesday meeting, held at his Wamunyoro residence, is part of a broader outreach campaign that has seen Gachagua engage various political figures as he seeks to reposition himself ahead of the 2027 elections.
“This afternoon, I met slightly over 80 former MCAs and councillors from across Nairobi County,” Gachagua said on his X account. “We discussed the political changes over the years and the lessons learned.”
He added that the talks also focused on Nairobi’s political dynamics and strategies for engagement in shaping the city’s future.

Since falling out with President William Ruto, Gachagua has been actively meeting delegations from different counties, including sitting MPs, senators, former elected leaders, and aspiring politicians.
His meetings have included leaders from Kisii, Nyamira, Nakuru, Meru, Laikipia, and Kirinyaga, fueling speculation about his next political move.
His latest engagements include high-profile figures such as Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, and former Justice Minister Martha Karua, who recently rebranded Narc Kenya into the People’s Liberation Party (PLP).
Additionally, Gachagua recently hosted a team of lawyers from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), led by Steve Mbugua, discussing national governance, constitutional law, and human rights.
