Interior CS Murkomen Condemns Murder of City Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu, Assures Swift Justice

Date:

MIGORI, Kenya – Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has condemned the killing of prominent Nairobi lawyer Michael Kyalo Mbobu, who was fatally attacked by assailants on a motorbike.

Speaking in Migori County during the launch of the county’s Jukwaa la Usalama security forum, Murkomen described the incident as a “heinous assassination” and promised a swift crackdown on those responsible.

“This is a very sad thing that has happened in our country; it is akin to what happened to Hon. Ongondo Were,” said Murkomen. “The deceased was my teacher, colleague, and friend. I am happy to note that progress has already been made by the DCI.”

The CS confirmed that several suspects have been identified, with some under interrogation while others remain at large.

He noted that the motive behind the killing is still unclear but emphasized that investigators are pursuing all leads.

“We do not know the motive yet. I am very interested to know what really happened,” he said, adding that he is in constant consultation with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Murkomen also sent condolences to the bereaved family.

He urged members of the public to volunteer any information that could aid the probe and commended eyewitnesses who have already come forward.

“It is in the interest of the security sector and Kenyans that the truth comes out. I am optimistic that in a very short time, we will have leads,” Murkomen stated.

The CS dismissed claims that government prioritizes cases involving high-profile figures, stressing that all Kenyans deserve justice.

“It is not in the interest of government to only expedite cases of prominent individuals. Every case matters — including the assistant chiefs who were murdered weeks ago in Migori. I will ensure justice is served, and the perpetrators brought to book,” he said.
