BAKU, Azerbaijan — Kenya and the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the Information, Communications, and Digital Technology (ICDT) sectors, following a bilateral meeting between Hon. William Kabogo, Kenya’s ICT Principal Secretary, and Iranian counterparts.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in digital infrastructure development, capacity building, technological innovation, and the advancement of ICT services under existing Kenya–Iran cooperation frameworks.
Both sides explored avenues to support joint projects, knowledge sharing, and technology transfer to accelerate digital adoption in key sectors of the economy.
Kabogo highlighted Kenya’s commitment to leveraging technology as a driver of economic growth, expanding digital opportunities for citizens and businesses, and fostering partnerships that align with the country’s National Digital Masterplan, Digital Superhighway, and broader digital transformation agenda.
The meeting also underscored the importance of regional and international cooperation in ICT as a catalyst for innovation, job creation, and inclusive development, with both countries pledging to explore future pilot projects and joint initiatives in emerging technologies such as AI, cybersecurity, and smart digital services.
