NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced delays in delivering electricity tokens purchased through its M-Pesa PayBill number 888880, leaving many customers frustrated.

In a statement on Saturday, the utility company did not explain the cause of the delay but advised customers to use alternative payment options, such as banks, as they work to resolve the issue.

“Our team is working to resolve the issue affecting our M-Pesa PayBill 888880,” Kenya Power said in the statement.

The company apologized for the inconvenience and promised to issue an update once the issue is resolved.

In the meantime, customers are advised to:

✔ Use bank payments to purchase tokens

✔ Avoid repeated transactions via PayBill 888880 until the issue is fixed

This is not the first time Kenya Power has experienced token purchase disruptions, with previous outages causing major inconveniences for prepaid customers.
