Kenya Power Announces Planned Outages in Six Counties on Tuesday, May 20

NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across six counties on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, to allow for routine system maintenance.

In a public notice, the utility company said the outages will occur at different times between 8 am and 5 pm, depending on the region.

Counties affected include:

  • Nakuru
  • Uasin Gishu
  • Murang’a
  • Kitui
  • Vihiga
  • Homa Bay

Here’s a breakdown of the affected areas:

Nakuru (9 am – 3 pm)

  • Kabarak University, Kabarak Guest House, Kabarak High School
  • Kabarak Bakery, Lower Mangu, Lengenet, Muricho, Lusaka
  • Shalom A, Ngesumin

Uasin Gishu (8 am – 5 pm)

  • Lugari Station, Mufutu, Lugari Boys’
  • Mukhuyu, Lunyito, Frank and nearby customers

Murang’a (9 am – 5 pm)

  • Kamahuha Girls, Shanghai, Sabasaba Market
  • Githembe Market, Sabasaba Water, Gathuri Primary

Kitui (9 am – 5 pm)

  • Kitooni, Kanyangii, Ilengi, Nzambia
  • Kangukangu Water, Kanyongonyo, Kanyangii Borehole

Vihiga (8:30 am – 5 pm)

  • Busweta, Chamakanga, Busali Union, Elunyu, Mululu, Bigina
  • Wangulu, Mukenye, Vokoli Girls, Naftali, Kwa Shem
  • Gilagiru, Mudungu, Nabwami, Gaumbwa, Weng’ondo, Gavudia
  • Chakombero, Sabatia, Chavogere

Homa Bay (8 am – 4 pm)

  • Homa Bay Town, Hamaline, Rangwe, Imbo, Olare
  • Asumbi, Maliera, Mbita, Luanda, Rodi Kopany
  • Rusinga, Waondo, and surrounding areas

Kenya Power advised affected customers to treat all lines as live during the outage period.
