NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in parts of three counties this Saturday, May 24, as the utility firm continues routine maintenance and upgrades to its network infrastructure.
The planned outages will affect sections of Bungoma, Nyeri, and Trans Nzoia counties, with thousands of homes and businesses expected to experience power cuts lasting up to nine hours.
In Bungoma County, areas around Mateka, including Bumula, Ranje, Butter Toast, Live Care, Salama Bakery, and surrounding customers, will be without power from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Nyeri County, the blackout will affect Gitathini Kanoga, covering Kanoga, Gitathini Secondary, Tetu Boys, Mwonjoria, St. Xavier, Nyawira Estate, and neighboring areas. The outage is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In Trans Nzoia County, the affected localities include Bwai, Banuli Farm, Maili 11, as well as Jirongo, Kerenget Mirembe, Mutua, and adjacent customers. Power will be cut from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kenya Power says the scheduled disruptions are necessary to allow for critical system upgrades, routine line maintenance, and network expansion, which are aimed at improving service reliability in the long term.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are urged to make early arrangements to minimize disruptions to daily operations and services during the blackout period.
