Kenya Power Announces Monday Outages in Nyeri, Laikipia and Kiambu

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Power has announced planned electricity outages on Monday, March 9, affecting several areas in Nyeri, Laikipia, and Kiambu counties as part of scheduled network maintenance.

The utility said the interruptions will run for several hours during the day to allow engineers to carry out system upgrades and line maintenance aimed at improving the reliability of the power supply.

Nyeri County

In Nyeri County, electricity will be interrupted in Nyaithe, Ithekahuno, and Maingirano areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Nyaithe, Culvert, Muthoka Village, Gathungo, Ithekahuno, Karo, Karathi, Thageini, Kiaraho, and Maingirano, as well as nearby customers.

Laikipia County

In Laikipia County, the outage will affect parts of Muthaiga Estate in Nanyuki from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas expected to experience power interruptions include Kanyoni Estate, Fair Mount Safari Club, 1KR, parts of Muthaiga Estate, Brickwoods Schools Nanyuki and Kwa Mwea, together with surrounding customers.

Kiambu County

Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, the outage will occur in Mutomo and Kigano Market areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected locations include Mama Ngina University, Mutomo Market, Ichaweri, Kigano Market, Ndundu Market, Muhoho High School, Theta T/Fact, Theta Water, and Gatitu Girls, as well as neighbouring areas.

Kenya Power said the scheduled maintenance is necessary to upgrade the electricity infrastructure and enhance service reliability across the affected regions.

Customers were advised to treat all power lines as live during the outage period and plan their activities accordingly until the electricity supply is restored.
