KNH Murder Mystery Deepens as DNA Results Clear Key Suspect

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The family of Gilbert Kinyua, a patient brutally murdered inside Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), faces another painful setback in their pursuit of justice.

More than a month after his killing, the investigation appears to have stalled, leaving his loved ones frustrated and fearing a possible cover-up.

Y News has learned that forensic tests failed to link a key suspect to the crime, throwing the case into uncertainty.

DNA analysis of blood samples from the scene, the murder weapon, and Kinyua’s wardmate—who had been treated as the prime suspect—returned negative results.

With no arrests, no fresh leads, and little communication from investigators, Kinyua’s family is running out of options.

Kinyua’s death on February 7, 2025, shocked the nation. Admitted for treatment, he was found dead in his hospital bed, his throat slit, his blood soaking the ward floor.

A kitchen knife, later recovered outside the ward’s window, was suspected to be the murder weapon.

Yet, despite the brutality of the crime, investigations have made little progress.

The family has spent weeks moving between offices, seeking answers that never come.

The case is mired in unanswered questions. How did someone enter a hospital ward, kill a patient in cold blood, and walk away unnoticed? Why were security cameras not working that night? And now, with the prime suspect ruled out, who else could have committed the crime?

The family, growing more desperate, suspects foul play.

Sources indicate that detectives may have to reexamine hospital security lapses and question more staff.

For now, Kinyua’s family is preparing to lay him to rest in Mukurweini, but their grief is compounded by a painful reality—his killer remains unknown, and justice is slipping away.
