If you thought celebrity breakups were messy, buckle up—because Kenyan content queen Koku Lwanga and actor Daddie Marto have taken theirs straight to the timeline, and it’s giving everything from Gaslight: The Series to Real Housewives of Instagram.
In a saga that started with cryptic captions and emotional IG reels, the estranged couple has gone full throttle with accusations, clapbacks, and legal threats. And no one—not even the in-laws—is staying silent.
It all started in June, when Koku cracked open her notes app and poured her heart—and receipts—onto the ‘gram.
She accused Marto of cheating, physical abuse, and neglecting their home and kids after she gave birth.
Koku revealed she had struggled with suicidal thoughts in the thick of their marital storm. She said she was done keeping up appearances for the internet. “I chose me,” she wrote.
And that was just Act One.

Marto responded weeks later with a lawyer-approved statement that painted a very different picture. According to him, the marriage ended in December 2024, and he only stuck around until April 2025 to “co-parent peacefully.”
He denied ever hitting her, ever cheating, and said he’s been financially supporting Koku and their child—including rent, bills, and school fees—even after moving out.Marto said he was “saddened” by Koku’s narrative and revealed he’s now taking the matter to court.
Peaceful? That’s when Koku really grabbed her keyboard.
On August 5, Koku clapped back with an eight-point takedown of Marto’s claims. She insists:The separation wasn’t agreed upon as permanent,Marto ghosted her and left her hanging emotionally and financially,he was violent toward her during a confrontation (which she claims is on police record and witnessed by neighbors)
She also said she slapped him once during the same incident but framed it as a moment of heartbreak, not habitual violence. Her tone was clear: “Don’t rewrite history just because you’re louder.”
As if that wasn’t enough drama, Marto’s dad—yes, his actual father—jumped into the chat. In a fiery Father’s Day post, he dragged Koku, calling her a “pathetic mother” for airing dirty laundry and emotionally harming their kids with the public mess.
Koku didn’t flinch. She posted her own response, accusing Marto’s family of protecting his image instead of holding him accountable. “You don’t get to villainize me for telling my story,” she said.
As of today, we are still somehow glued to our Instagram stories following on explicit stories and private screenshots of details that should otherwise be confidential. All this despite both parties insisting the law is involved.
The battle for the narrative is still ongoing. And when love stories go public, there’s no “unposting” the screenshots.
For now, this tea is boiling, and Kenya is sipping every drop.
