NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions across parts of Nairobi and Nakuru counties on Sunday, June 1, coinciding with Madaraka Day celebrations.
In a notice issued Saturday, the utility firm said the blackout will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is part of routine maintenance aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply in the affected areas.
Nairobi: Enterprise Road to Be Affected
In Nairobi, the outage will impact parts of Enterprise Road and Road C, affecting several industrial and commercial establishments.
Among those listed are Sameer Industrial Park, Red Cross, Euro Packaging, Famiar Generating Systems, Kenya Highland Seeds, Tile City, and Kate Freight & Tours, as well as the Affordable Housing project in Mukuru and surrounding areas.
Nakuru: Entire CBD to Go Dark
In Nakuru County, the blackout is expected to affect the entire Central Business District (CBD).
Key locations that will experience the outage include Kenyatta Avenue, Moi Road, Westside Mall, Waterbuck Hotel, Merica Hotel, Mt. Kenya University, Naivas, Woolmatt, and Clean Shelf supermarkets, among other major commercial and hospitality establishments.
Njoro Sub-County Hospital and other health and business facilities within the blackout zone are also expected to be affected.
KPLC advised customers in the listed areas to plan accordingly, noting that efforts will be made to restore power as soon as maintenance works are completed.
