NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a scheduled maintenance of its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on Sunday, July 13, which will render the platform inaccessible for six hours.
In a public notice, KRA said the maintenance exercise will begin at 4:00 a.m. and conclude by 10:00 a.m., urging all users to plan accordingly to avoid disruptions to their operations.
“Kenya Revenue Authority informs all stakeholders that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” the authority stated.
The temporary shutdown is expected to affect importers, exporters, clearing agents, and other stakeholders in Kenya’s trade and logistics chain who rely on the iCMS for customs processing.
Although the specific nature of the maintenance was not disclosed, KRA often conducts such upgrades to improve system performance, security, and stability.
The iCMS is a central digital platform that handles sea and house manifests, customs declarations, and other trade documents — all integrated into a single interface.
It is a key component of Kenya’s efforts to modernize customs operations and facilitate efficient trade.
By automating formerly manual processes, the platform shortens cargo clearance times, reduces paperwork and human error, and lowers transaction costs for businesses.
KRA has also credited iCMS with enhancing transparency, compliance, and real-time cargo tracking, while helping to curb fraud and promote accountability across the customs ecosystem.
