NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its portal for applications to the Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) programme for the May 2026 intake at the Kenya School of Law (KSL).
In a public notice issued on February 23, KUCCPS said candidates seeking entry into the legal profession through paralegal training can now submit applications online. The window will remain open until March 9, 2026.
“Application for Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) is now open via the KUCCPS portal,” the placement agency said.
Applicants are required to log into the official KUCCPS student portal and apply for the programme at KSL using the institution’s programme code 5485J23.
According to KUCCPS and KSL guidelines, candidates must have attained a minimum grade of C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
They must also have scored at least a C+ (plus) in English and Kiswahili.
Additional qualifications include at least one principal pass in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE), or a pass in a certificate law course offered by an accredited legal education provider, accompanied by a certificate of experiential learning issued by the Council of Legal Education.
KSL Director Dr. Henry K. Mutai warned that incomplete applications will not be considered. “Applications not accompanied by the required documents, or sent after the closing date, shall not be accepted,” he stated.
Applicants must upload a copy of their KCSE or KCE certificate, relevant professional certificates and transcripts where applicable, a national identity card copy, a passport-size coloured photograph, and proof of payment of the non-refundable application fee of Sh 2,000.
The Diploma in Law programme runs for a minimum of two academic years, comprising three terms per year. Students are required to register for four course units each term to qualify for the award.
KSL offers flexible study options. Day students attend physical classes from 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm, Monday to Thursday.
Evening students attend virtual classes from 5 pm to 8 pm on the same days.
The programme is offered at KSL’s Karen campus and its Town Campus at Development House along Moi Avenue in Nairobi.
Separately, the institution indicated that applications for the 2025/2026 academic year through its direct portal will begin on May 11. All applications must be submitted by March 31, 2026, to avoid disqualification.

The reopening of the KUCCPS portal comes amid growing demand for legal education pathways outside the traditional Bachelor of Laws (LLB) route.
Paralegal training equips graduates to support advocates, courts, and legal departments, enhancing access to justice in line with Article 48 of the Constitution, which guarantees every person the right to access justice.
By streamlining the placement process and offering structured entry requirements, KUCCPS and KSL aim to widen participation in legal training while maintaining professional standards set by the Council of Legal Education.
