NAIROBI, Kenya — The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has announced more than 350 job vacancies in the State Department for Livestock Development, offering one-year contract opportunities across administrative, technical, and support roles.
In a public notice dated January 30, 2026, the ministry said the positions are open to qualified Kenyans and are intended to strengthen service delivery within the livestock sector, a key pillar of the country’s food security and rural economy.
According to the notice, a total of 354 vacancies have been advertised across ten cadres, with the highest number allocated to Office Assistants IV (65 positions), Security Wardens III (55) and Animal Husbandry Assistants III (55).
Other roles include Clerical Officers II (44), Artisans (35), Drivers III/Plant Operators III (32), Office Administrative Assistants III (20), Cooks III (20), Housekeeping Assistants III (20) and Receptionist Assistants III (8).
All positions fall under various grades of the Civil Service Commission’s job groups and are offered on fixed one-year contracts, renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.
The ministry directed applicants to submit a single application for only one post using the Public Service Commission Form PSC2 (Revised 2016), downloadable from the PSC website.
Applicants were cautioned that providing false information constitutes a criminal offence and could lead to disqualification or prosecution.
In line with constitutional requirements, the State Department said the recruitment process will comply with Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity, as well as Article 232, which outlines the values and principles of public service, including fair competition, merit, and representation of Kenya’s diverse communities.

The ministry specifically encouraged applications from persons with disabilities, women, minorities and marginalised groups, citing the need to promote inclusivity and equity in public employment.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates, national identity cards, and transcripts during interviews.
The ministry warned members of the public against fraudsters soliciting bribes, stressing that no fees are charged at any stage of the recruitment process.
Completed applications must be delivered to the Principal Secretary, State Department for Livestock Development, either by hand at Kilimo House, Nairobi, or via post, on or before February 28, 2026, at 5:00 pm EAT.
