KIKUYU, Kenya – Detectives in Kikuyu are investigating the killing of a University of Nairobi student whose body was discovered in a thicket in Muguga, Kiambu County, days after she was reported missing.
The body of Jane Atila Quedeya, a student at UoN’s Kikuyu Campus, was found decomposing in Kefri Muguga Forest on October 17, four days after her disappearance was reported at Kikuyu Police Station.
Police say forensic fingerprint analysis conducted jointly with the National Registration Bureau confirmed her identity.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Atila was last seen in the company of her estranged boyfriend, Nicholas Mutua Mutia, 34, shortly before she went missing.
Mutia was arrested and presented before the Kikuyu Law Courts on October 25, where detectives secured 21 days to detain him as they complete investigations. The case is scheduled for mention on November 13.
