“Mr HalfTam and Gen Z Blood”: Kalonzo, Kindiki in Fiery Exchange

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya –Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has rejected any political alliance with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, accusing him of trying to use his name to sanitize what he called a “blood-based regime.”

This came hours after Kindiki claimed he had tried to extend a political olive branch to Kalonzo, only to be spurned — a move that appears to have backfired spectacularly.

“I hear my big brother Kalonzo has said he doesn’t wish to work with me politically. That is fine with me,” Kindiki said on Sunday, appearing to confirm behind-the-scenes efforts to woo Kalonzo into government.

But the Wiper leader would have none of it.

In a searing rebuttal, Kalonzo set the record straight and made it painfully clear that no partnership was possible — not now, not ever — not when, in his words, there is Gen Z blood on the government’s hands.

“I want to make it clear: I will never work with this blood-based regime,” Kalonzo said in a written statement.

“Let no one be misled by those peddling falsehoods and attempting to use my name to sanitize injustice.”

At the heart of the rejection lies the spiraling outrage over the deaths of young Kenyans during 2024 protests — a movement led by Gen Z against oppressive policies, police brutality, and impunity.

Kindiki was the Interior Cabinet Secretary when the country lost more than 60 youth for protesting against a punitive tax bill.

There have been multiple cases of extra-judicial killings since then.

Among those recently killed is Albert Ojwang, a blogger and teacher.

Hospital records from Mbagathi indicate he was already dead — bleeding from the mouth, eyes, and head — by the time police delivered his body. Officers claimed, falsely, that his injuries were self-inflicted.

The public has not bought that version of events. And neither has Kalonzo.

“I cannot work with or meet up with people with Gen Z blood on their hands — including that of Albert Ojwang,” he declared, adding: “Kenyans know the truth, Mr HalfTam. I will always be on the side of the people.”

Kindiki had attempted to keep the tone civil in his earlier message.

“For the unkind things he has said about me, I won’t answer him back publicly, not because I can’t, but because I never do public duels with people I respect,” he said.

“Nevertheless, if he continues with his falsehoods unprovoked, I will happily tackle him head-on.”
