Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara Arraigned at Milimani Court After DCI Arrest

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara was on Friday morning arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts, just hours after her dramatic arrest during a police raid at her home in Maraigushu, Naivasha.

Kihara was brought to court under tight security in a Subaru vehicle and was briefly held in court cells before proceedings began.

The arrest has drawn widespread political attention. Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was present in court in a show of solidarity, later condemning the move as a case of “harassment and political intimidation.”

“This is a blatant misuse of state power to silence political voices,” Kalonzo told reporters outside the courthouse.

The exact charges against the MP remain unclear, but sources indicate they may be linked to alleged inciteful remarks posted on social media.

Her arrest followed a late-night raid by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at her residence — an operation that was streamed live on her Facebook page, sparking public outrage and concerns over freedom of speech.
