Ngong Court Hands Life Sentences to Trio in Brutal Robbery Cases

Date:

NGONG, Kajiado – Three men have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Ngong court after being found guilty of violent robbery in two separate incidents that left their victims injured and robbed of valuables.

The convicts, whose case was prosecuted under charges of robbery with violence, were found to have committed the first offence on December 18, 2021, at Kibiku in Kajiado West.

According to court records, they violently attacked a man, stealing a Huawei Y9 phone worth Sh24,990, a memory card valued at Sh3,995, and shoes worth Sh4,000.

Investigations further revealed they accessed the victim’s mobile money account and transferred Sh3,970 to another line.

“Before fleeing, the attackers inflicted violence on their victim, leaving him injured. The court ruled that the Prosecution had proved all elements of robbery with violence beyond a reasonable doubt, sentencing the three men to life imprisonment,” read part of the ruling.

One of the convicts faced an additional charge of resisting arrest in Bulbul, Kajiado North, on December 29, 2021. The magistrate handed him a separate two-year sentence for the offence.

The same convict was also tied to a second violent robbery that occurred months earlier on September 5, 2021, in Oloolua, Kajiado North.

Court documents revealed that he and his accomplices ambushed a victim, stealing items valued at Sh227,000.

The stolen property included a smart TV worth Sh95,000, a Honda concrete vibrator valued at Sh36,000, two mobile phones worth Sh44,000, and Sh50,000 in cash. The attackers also physically assaulted the victim before fleeing.

For this repeat offence, the court imposed another life sentence, underscoring the gravity of violent crime and the need for deterrence amid rising cases of organised criminal gangs across the country.

The ruling sends a strong warning against violent offenders, with the magistrate stressing that the law will continue to impose the harshest penalties where victims are left traumatised and endangered.
