NAIROBI, Kenya – All government agencies will now be required to create e-Agent accounts on the eCitizen platform to process bulk payments more efficiently, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced.
In a circular issued Wednesday, NTSA said the eCitizen portal has been upgraded to support bulk service payments through a dedicated e-Agent system.
The move is expected to enhance the coordination of payments for services such as motor vehicle registration, licensing, and inspection across national and county governments.
“The eCitizen platform has been enabled to support the processing of bulk payments for various services through an e-Agent account,” the Authority said in a statement.
The directive follows an order from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, requiring all state agencies to digitise their service payment systems by August 29, 2025.
One-Day Account Creation
To create an e-Agent account, agencies must submit a formal request addressed to the NTSA Director-General.
The application must include the national ID number, mobile phone number, official email address, and a passport photo of the proposed agent—an officer already managing transport or NTSA-related services within the institution.
Soft copies of the letter and passport photo are to be submitted via numberplates@ntsa.go.ke.
Once approved, both the agency and the designated agent will be notified through the provided email addresses.
NTSA noted that account creation will be free of charge and will take only one working day to complete.
National Support Network
To assist with onboarding, NTSA has set up help desks at its Nairobi headquarters, regional offices, and all Huduma Centres countrywide.
These desks will guide institutions through the application, activation, and usage of the new system.
“We look forward to giving all entities necessary support as they endeavour to implement the directive by the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service,” the Authority said.
The rollout of the e-Agent system marks another step in the government’s broader push to digitise public services and reduce inefficiencies in financial operations.
NTSA stressed that comprehensive usage guidelines and training material will be sent directly to registered agents and institutions upon account approval.
