BARINGO, Kenya – Police in Baringo County have arrested a man in possession of cannabis with an estimated street value of Ksh2 million during a security operation along the Nakuru–Eldoret Highway in Timboroa.
According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Timboroa Police Station intercepted a grey Toyota Noah on Monday following a tip-off that it was being used to transport narcotics.
“The vehicle was suspected of transporting cannabis,” the NPS said in a statement on Tuesday.
A search of the vehicle uncovered four sacks containing 759 brooms of cannabis, which were immediately confiscated as evidence.
The suspect, who was alone in the vehicle, was arrested on the spot, and the car impounded for further forensic examination.

Police said the suspect remains in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
The NPS commended the officers involved for their swift action, describing the operation as part of ongoing national efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the distribution of illicit substances.
“The National Police Service commends the officers for their vigilance and reaffirms its commitment to ridding the country of drugs and illicit alcohol,” the statement added.
Drug trafficking remains a persistent challenge along key transit routes such as the Nakuru–Eldoret Highway, which law enforcement agencies have identified as a major corridor for the movement of illegal substances between western Kenya and Nairobi.
