PS Omollo Supports Kisumu Youth with Key Development Resources

Date:

KISUMU, Kenya – In a bid to foster youth empowerment and strengthen grassroots governance, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, alongside Dr. Ouma Oluga, the Principal Secretary for Medical Services, engaged with youth representatives from all 35 wards of Kisumu County in a consultative forum that focused on inclusion, empowerment and security.

The forum brought together over 200 youth leaders from across Kisumu to discuss strategies for amplifying their voices in local governance, enhancing community policing structures, and strengthening programs aimed at equipping young people with productive skills for self-reliance and meaningful participation in national development.

Omollo emphasized the importance of collaboration in governance, reiterating that it is a shared responsibility that must be grounded in public involvement and adherence to constitutional values.

As part of his commitment to empowering the youth, Omollo made significant contributions to local youth groups in Kisumu, providing them with key resources to kick-start their economic activities.

Among the resources donated were five Tuk Tuk vehicles, ten motorcycles, one matatu, and a Sh500,000 grant to support local “mama mboga” businesses.

These donations are aimed at supporting youth-led initiatives and promoting self-reliance in the region, as the government works to ensure that young people have the tools necessary for economic independence and productive participation in the country’s growth.

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has been emphasizing the need for public input in shaping frameworks that will enhance service delivery, promote national cohesion, and improve governance at the grassroots level.

The two leaders said that the two forums are part of a broader national effort to empower communities, build trust between the government and citizens, and ensure that all members of society, particularly the youth, are included in the national discourse.
