NAIROBI, Kenya –George Oduor, a longtime aide and bodyguard to ODM leader Raila Odinga, has passed away.
Sources indicate that Oduor died on Wednesday evening at a Nairobi hospital, where he had been receiving treatment.
Oduor, who had served the Odinga family for over three decades, was a familiar presence alongside the former Prime Minister at public events.
His role as a trusted security aide spanned generations, with archival photos placing him at key moments in Odinga’s political journey, including the 1994 funeral of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga at Uhuru Park.
The news of his passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from leaders and close associates.
Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, an ODM party member, expressed his sorrow in a brief but emotional tribute.
“Wah George Oduor! Rest in Peace my brother,” Alai wrote on X.

ODM Communications Director Philip Etale also mourned Oduor, remembering him as a loyal friend and mentor.
