Renowned Reggae Hypemaster MC Fullstop Dies

NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya’s reggae fraternity is in mourning following the death of legendary hypeman John Maina, popularly known as MC Fullstop, after a protracted battle with lung tuberculosis.

MC Fullstop passed away while receiving treatment at a local hospital, according to celebrated mixmaster Deejay Juan.

“He has left us. He was in the hospital,” he said.

The iconic entertainer rose to national fame for his electrifying presence on TV and at live reggae events, often hyping recorded reggae mixes that would later become staple soundtracks at parties and matatus across the country.

His unique voice, charisma, and infectious energy made him a household name and a beloved figure in Kenya’s vibrant reggae scene.

Health Struggles

Fullstop had been in and out of hospital for several months, battling complications arising from lung TB.

In earlier updates shared on social media, the MC revealed that the illness had robbed him of his voice and affected one of his lungs.

At one point, he was forced to come out publicly to dismiss widespread rumours of his death after unverified reports circulated online.

In a heartfelt video, he urged fans to rely only on verified information and thanked them for their continued prayers and support.

Images of a visibly frail MC Fullstop during hospital visits had previously gone viral, prompting an outpouring of support from fans and fellow entertainers, many of whom sent messages of encouragement and solidarity.

Tributes Pour In

The reggae community has been quick to pay tribute to the fallen legend.

Fans flooded social media with memories of his unmatched stage presence and powerful voice that once dominated airwaves and dancehall events.

As of now, his family has not released an official statement or funeral arrangements.

MC Fullstop’s death marks the end of an era in Kenya’s entertainment industry.

He will be remembered not just as a master of hype, but as a cultural icon who gave reggae a unique voice in the Kenyan music scene.
