NAIROBI, Kenya— The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced over 60 senior job openings as it accelerates efforts to implement the government’s universal health coverage reforms initiated by the government last year to replace the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), accused of ‘bias’.
The state agency is tasked with managing key health financing schemes including the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), the Primary Healthcare Fund, and the Emergency, Chronic, and Critical Illness Fund.
The current recruitment aims to enhance SHA’s institutional capacity to deliver on its mandate of ensuring financial risk protection and access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans.
“The Social Health Authority (SHA) is a State Corporation established under the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023 and mandated to provide financial risk protection for Kenyan residents by facilitating equitable access to quality healthcare,” the Authority said in its vacancy announcement.
The 64 vacant positions include top-level roles such as Director of Corporate Services, Director of Funds and Finance Management, Director of Provider and Beneficiary Management, and Director of Internal Audit.
Several mid-level roles such as Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors in Legal Services, ICT, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Claims, and Customer Experience are also open to qualified candidates.
In addition to professional qualifications and experience, applicants must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
These include a Certificate of Good Conduct, tax compliance clearance, HELB compliance, EACC clearance, and a CRB report.
“All applications must be received by 5:00pm, 19th August 2025,” SHA stated, directing interested applicants to submit their credentials online or physically to the SHA offices on Ragati Road, Nairobi.
Applicants must submit a detailed CV, copies of academic and professional certificates, a cover letter demonstrating suitability for the role, and contacts of at least three professional referees.
SHA emphasized its commitment to diversity and equal opportunity employment, warning that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
