Kenyan singer Marya, best known for her hit single Chokoza, is showing encouraging signs of recovery months after being diagnosed with a stroke. The artist, who has been receiving treatment since June, has gradually regained strength and continues to undergo therapy as part of her rehabilitation.

Marya’s health scare, caused by a blood clot that cut off oxygen to her brain, left the left side of her body unresponsive.

Following weeks of hospital care, she was discharged to continue recovery at home under strict medical supervision. According to close friends, the singer is responding well to physiotherapy sessions and is slowly regaining mobility.

Recent appearances, including a spa day organized by celebrity beautician Phoina Tosha, revealed visible improvements. Marya was able to move around without a wheelchair during the outing, a development fans and supporters have described as a sign of progress.

The singer’s health battle has attracted overwhelming support from colleagues in the entertainment industry. Avril, a longtime friend and collaborator, has kept fans updated through social media, urging continued prayers and financial assistance.

Comedian Eric Omondi also stepped in to mobilize support, launching a fundraiser to help cover Marya’s medical costs. He described the singer as “a fighter” and appealed to Kenyans to stand with her during her recovery.

Fans have taken to online platforms to share uplifting messages, praising Marya for her resilience and reminding the public of her significant contribution to Kenyan music.

Despite the progress, Marya has spoken openly about the emotional and financial toll her condition has placed on her family. In a heartfelt message, she revealed that her eldest son has struggled to process the sudden changes, while medical expenses continue to weigh heavily on her household.

Her family has since issued a public appeal for support, with contributions directed towards essential recovery items including physiotherapy, specialized bedding, and mobility equipment.

Marya rose to fame in the late 2000s as part of the Ogopa Deejays stable, releasing hits such as Hey Baby, Sishiki Simu, and Chokoza featuring Avril. Her distinctive voice and confident stage presence cemented her place as one of Kenya’s most celebrated female artists of her generation.

Marya’s recent milestones—particularly her ability to engage in everyday activities—are seen as a positive indication of further improvement.
