Skyward Airlines to Introduce Fuel Surcharge from April 1

Date:

BUCHAREST, Romania — Skyward Airlines has informed passengers that it will introduce a fuel surcharge on all ticket prices starting 1 April 2026, a move the carrier says is necessary to respond to persistent increases in global aviation fuel costs.

In a notice released Thursday, 26 March 2026, the airline said rising international fuel prices are placing “sustained supply pressures” on its operations, with imported fuel constituting a significant share of flight operating costs.

The advisory, addressed to all passengers, states that the surcharge will be applied to the fare on every Skyward Airlines ticket issued on or after the effective date.

The airline emphasized its commitment to “competitive, transparent pricing” and pledged to continue monitoring market conditions closely, with a promise to update customers should circumstances change.

“Effective 1st April 2026, a fuel surcharge will be applied to all Skyward Airlines ticket prices,” the statement said, adding that the aviation industry at large is grappling with “the impact of rising global fuel costs.” The carrier expressed appreciation for customers’ loyalty and understanding as it implements the new pricing measure.

Fuel surcharges are fees added to base ticket prices to help airlines offset fluctuations in jet fuel costs — a practice that has been increasingly common in recent years when fuel markets are volatile.

Although not a new concept in the travel industry, the surcharge adds an immediate cost burden for passengers booking travel with Skyward Airlines, particularly at a time when consumers are already facing broader inflationary pressures.

Passengers booked with Skyward Airlines or planning to fly after 1 April 2026 should check the airline’s official communications and booking platforms for specific surcharge details and any additional conditions that may affect their journey.
