Tyler Robinson Arrested for Charlie Kirk Shooting After Alleged Confession

Date:

UTAH – The FBI and Utah law enforcement officials have identified Tyler Robinson as the suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, crediting his family with helping investigators track him down.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox, speaking at a press conference on Thursday, confirmed Robinson’s arrest, saying: “We got him.”

He added that a family member came forward with crucial information, including a confession Robinson allegedly made to his father.

According to Cox, relatives noticed Robinson had become “more political” in recent years and expressed strong hostility toward Kirk.

Ahead of Kirk’s September 10 appearance at Utah Valley University, Robinson reportedly told family members that the activist was “full of hate and spreading hate.”

Investigators also recovered bullets and shell casings with disturbing inscriptions. One read: “Hey fascist, catch.”

Cox thanked Robinson’s relatives for “doing the right thing” by alerting authorities.

Further evidence emerged from interviews with Robinson’s roommate, who shared Discord messages linked to an account named “Tyler.”

The messages detailed retrieving a rifle from a drop point, stashing it in a bush, and changing outfits after the attack.

Surveillance video later showed Robinson arriving at the scene in a Dodge Challenger around 8:29 a.m. on September 10.

When agents encountered him two days later, he was still wearing clothing consistent with that footage — a maroon t-shirt, light shorts, a black hat with a white logo, and light shoes.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as they build the case against Robinson.
