NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has appointed Gloria Sarah Awinja to its Board of Directors, marking a key addition to the agency’s leadership as it continues to oversee major road development and maintenance projects across the country.
In a statement released on Sunday, KeNHA congratulated Ms. Awinja on her appointment, expressing confidence that her expertise would strengthen the Authority’s governance and strategic direction.
“KeNHA extends her sincere commendation on your appointment as a Member of the Board of Directors. The Authority looks forward to the leadership, insight, and dedication you will bring as you undertake this important responsibility,” the statement read.
The appointment comes at a time when the national infrastructure agency is implementing large-scale highway upgrades and expanding key transport corridors aimed at improving mobility, reducing logistics costs, and facilitating regional trade.
KeNHA plays a central role in delivering flagship projects under the government’s national development agenda, including the upgrading of trunk roads, rehabilitation of aging networks, and supervising contractors across various regions.
Ms. Awinja’s appointment adds to ongoing reforms within the roads sector aimed at enhancing efficiency and aligning infrastructure development with national and regional transport priorities.
KeNHA has in recent months stepped up efforts to improve public communication and stakeholder engagement as it progresses with upgrades on major roads, including ongoing works across the Northern Corridor, parts of the Coast region, and critical junction improvements in urban centres.
