How to Apply for a Certificate of Good Conduct

A certificate of good conduct is issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kenya to confirm the applicant’s criminal record status. 

To apply for a certificate of good conduct you follow the following steps;

  • Create an account in the eCitizen portal.
  • Login to eCitizen – DCI portal.
  • Apply for a Police Clearance Certificate.
  • Fill out the C24 application form and download it from the portal. It can also be downloaded in Huduma Centres or at the DCI offices at Mazingira House, Kiambu Road.
  • Pay an online processing fee of Sh 1050 through the payment modes provided.
  • Present the original ID and its photocopy, original birth certificate and photocopy for minors, 2 copies of the online payment invoice, and 1 copy of the C24 printed on both sides to DCI headquarters or regional police headquarters. 
  • Let your fingerprints and palm prints be recorded on the prescribed form C24. 

The certificate of good conduct takes between 2 to 4 weeks to process after which the applicant collects it at the DCI Headquarters, Nairobi. 

It is valid for 1 year from the period it was printed and hence, should be renewed annually.
