Radisson Blu Nairobi Leads the Charge with Electric Vehicles

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Radisson Blu Hotel, located in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area, has teamed up with Humming Bird Transport (HBT), a forerunner in guest mobility services, to incorporate 12 electric vehicles (EVs) into its fleet.

This strategic partnership, launched in alignment with World Environment Day, exemplifies a shared commitment to reducing carbon footprints and advancing green initiatives within the hospitality industry.

Setting a New Standard in Sustainable Hospitality

The introduction of EVs at Radisson Blu Hotel symbolizes a crucial shift towards eco-friendly practices that aim to significantly cut down carbon emissions in the hotel’s daily operations.

The Hotel’s General Manager Russel Storey termed the move as monumental.

“This partnership marks a defining moment in the hospitality industry. By introducing electric vehicles, we are not just reducing carbon emissions; we are re-writing the script on the hospitality industry’s environmental impact,” he said.

“We are also aiming to redefine the tourism experience while championing Kenya’s leadership in green transport in Africa.”

Infrastructure to Support Green Mobility

To facilitate the integration of these electric vehicles, Radisson Blu has installed a dedicated charging station on its premises.

This charging station is a vital infrastructure addition, not only catering to the hotel’s operational needs but also providing guests with the convenience of charging their EVs.

This proactive approach ensures the long-term viability of sustainable transport solutions within the hospitality sector.

Humming Bird Transport’s Role in Sustainable Transport

Humming Bird Transport, under the leadership of Managing Director Martin Murungi, plays a pivotal role in this green transition.

Renowned for its dedication to eco-friendly mobility, HBT leads the way in the sub-Saharan hospitality landscape by integrating cutting-edge technologies and fostering strategic partnerships.

“Our partnership with Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Upper Hill, exemplifies the power of collaboration and shared vision in driving positive change. Together, we are pioneering sustainable transportation solutions that will redefine the tourism experience and set a new precedent for environmental responsibility,” Murungi said.

The introduction of electric vehicles for guest transfers at Radisson Blu Hotel is expected to significantly enhance the overall guest experience, promoting a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable form of hospitality.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to champion eco-friendly practices.
