The star of Toyota’s lineup will be the Bozhi 3X SUV, set to debut in 2024.
This model promises advanced driving assistance for parking and navigation on highways and urban traffic, marking Toyota’s leadership in autonomous driving technology among foreign brands in China.
The announcement was made by GAC Toyota, Toyota’s joint venture with state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC), at an event in Guangzhou.
GAC Toyota is collaborating with Momenta Global, a startup specializing in autonomous driving software used by automakers like Mercedes-Benz.
This partnership aims to ensure that the Bozhi 3X SUV stands out in the rapidly evolving autonomous driving market.
Partnering with Huawei and Innovating Batteries
In another technological stride, Toyota is teaming up with Huawei to integrate its in-vehicle operating software.
This innovation will debut in an electric sedan set to launch in China by 2025.
Huawei’s cutting-edge software is expected to enhance the vehicle’s performance and user experience, positioning Toyota as a formidable player in intelligent vehicle technology.
Moreover, GAC Toyota revealed plans to roll out an iron phosphate lithium battery between 2026 and 2027.
This new battery technology is projected to reduce the production cost of Toyota’s bZ4X EV by 40pc, making electric vehicles more affordable and appealing to the mass market.
