NAIROBI, Kenya – Absa Bank Kenya has opened a new branch in Kawangware, Nairobi, as part of its strategy to grow its physical presence in the capital’s expanding satellite towns.

The Kawangware branch, located at Soko Safi Mall, becomes the bank’s 87th outlet countrywide.

It will serve individuals, businesses, and the wider community with a range of services including a full-service banking hall, a 24-hour ATM, a cash deposit machine, and access to agency and mobile banking.

Speaking during the launch, Absa Bank Kenya CEO Abdi Mohamed said the expansion underscores the bank’s commitment to deepening financial access and supporting communities on their financial journeys.

“Kawangware is a strategic gateway into Nairobi, home to hardworking individuals, small businesses, and families who embody the spirit of enterprise,” he said.

“This branch represents our promise to walk with this community, offering not just banking services, but the knowledge and partnerships that help people thrive.”

The lender also flagged off a financial empowerment caravan targeting residents in Kawangware and surrounding areas, including Dagoretti and Kikuyu.

The initiative will offer financial education and tailored solutions to meet the everyday needs of local enterprises and households.

Absa Kenya’s Consumer Banking Director, Moses Muthui, emphasized the importance of proximity and relevance in financial services.

“This is our way of taking banking closer to our customers and supporting them to make smart financial choices.”

“ Whether it’s opening the right business or personal account, using our Visa cards, arranging insurance, saving as a chama through Uwezo, or financing their needs.”
