MERU, Kenya — Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri is safe after a road accident on Thursday morning along the Nanyuki–Meru highway.
The accident occurred near Siraji, Timau, as the MP travelled to attend President William Ruto’s NYOTA programme at Kinoru Stadium.
Preliminary reports indicate Rindikiri sustained no life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition. He is expected to continue his scheduled duties.
The incident involved another vehicle carrying Catholic sisters. All occupants of both vehicles escaped unharmed.
Emergency responders and security personnel were deployed promptly to ensure safety and manage the situation.
Rindikiri confirmed the accident on social media, thanking Kenyans for their concern.
“My team and I appreciate the concern shown following a road incident. We are all safe and doing well. Thank you to my constituents and fellow Kenyans for the prayers and goodwill,” he said.
Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. Authorities have not released full details, though both vehicles sustained minor damage.

The NYOTA programme continued without reference to the incident, and speakers, including President Ruto, made no mention of the MP’s accident.
Rindikiri represents Buuri Constituency in Meru County and has served in Parliament since 2017. He previously held senior roles in the insurance sector and worked as a Planning Officer at Kenya Post and Telecommunications Corporation between 1984 and 1991.
The incident echoes a similar case in 2024, when Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi was involved in a road accident in Chuka, Meru County. All occupants escaped uninjured.
This episode highlights the ongoing road safety risks for public officials travelling across the region, particularly on highways linking northern and central Kenya.
