DCI, Chandaria Foundation Launch Children’s Park to Promote Family Wellbeing

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a modern children’s playground at its headquarters residential area, marking a new milestone in promoting family welfare within the law enforcement community.

The colourful event saw officers and their families gather for the handover of the facility, which was fully sponsored by the Chandaria Foundation under the leadership of industrialist and philanthropist Dr. Manu Chandaria.

While receiving the facility, DCI Director Mohamed I. Amin hailed the initiative as a “celebration of noble partnership and shared values” that underscores the agency’s broader commitment to the holistic development of its officers’ families.

“This project reminds us that our role as law enforcers extends beyond crime prevention and investigation,” Amin said. “We also have a duty to create safe, nurturing environments where our children can play, learn, and grow.”

The DCI chief expressed gratitude to Dr. Chandaria for the generous contribution, noting that the playground will benefit over 150 children living within the DCI residential quarters. He said the facility offers not only space for recreation but also an avenue for children to learn vital life skills such as teamwork, respect, and discipline.

“I urge our children to take care of this park and use it to build friendships, creativity, and confidence,” Amin added.

On his part, Dr. Chandaria commended the DCI leadership for embracing partnerships that promote community wellbeing. He said his foundation was proud to support initiatives that enrich children’s lives and foster strong family bonds.

“Children represent our future. Giving them a safe place to play and dream is among the most meaningful contributions we can make as a society,” he said, while thanking the construction team for the timely completion of the project.

The event was also attended by senior DCI officials, including Director of Forensics Rosemary Kuraru and Director of Operations Samuel Kiptum, who lauded the Chandaria Foundation’s continued collaboration with government institutions in advancing social development.

The playground launch reflects a growing trend of public–private partnerships aimed at enhancing welfare and wellness within security agencies, reinforcing the principle that strong families build stronger institutions.
