HELB Opens KASNEB Loan Applications for Accounting Students

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- If you’re an accounting student struggling with tuition and exam fees, here’s some good news: HELB has officially launched the KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Scheme, offering financial aid tailored specifically for KASNEB students.

This means if you’re pursuing a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Secretaries (CS), or one of the other four eligible courses, you can now apply for funding to cover both tuition and examination costs.

Who’s Eligible and What’s Covered?

To qualify, you must be enrolled in a KASNEB-accredited institution. The loan will cater to tuition fees, exam registration, renewals, and exemption fees, ensuring students can focus on their studies without financial stress.

The scheme covers the following six programs:

  • Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
  • Certified Secretaries (CS)
  • Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA)
  • Certified Credit Professionals (CCP)
  • Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD)
  • Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS)

Here’s where it gets even better:

The loan has a low interest rate of 6pc per year, making it an affordable financing option for students. Repayment begins three years after graduation, giving borrowers ample time to establish their careers before starting payments.

The loan must be fully repaid within 60 months (five years) from the start of repayment. Additionally, a one-time administrative fee of Ksh 500 is deducted during disbursement to cover processing costs.

That’s a pretty sweet deal, especially for students who need financial flexibility while pursuing their accounting certifications.
