NAIROBI, Kenya– Kenya’s political heavyweights are uniting in demanding answers over the rising cases of abductions and extrajudicial killings.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is backing the push for a Public Commission of Inquiry to investigate the root causes of these disturbing disappearances.
Speaking at City Mortuary, where the bodies of two missing Mlolongo men were identified, Kalonzo made it clear—this commission cannot be a one-sided government affair.
Earlier today, we met with the families of Martin Mwau and Justus Mutmwa, whose lives were brutally cut short by State-Sponsored killings. Martin and Justus were among the four Mlolongo abductees who were reported missing between December 16 and 17. They were abducted and…
“It will not be a commission established by William Ruto alone. It must involve the opposition and other stakeholders. If the government is unwilling, we will hold our own sessions and decide whether to form our own commission,” Kalonzo asserted.
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi is also urging President William Ruto to take immediate action.
He warned that the alarming trend of abductions could plunge the country into chaos and anarchy.
“Mr. President, I am calling upon you to order an end to these abductions and extrajudicial killings, which you promised, and to initiate an open inquiry into how these things have been happening,” said Muturi.
His concerns are echoed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, who challenged security agencies to step up and identify those responsible.
Drawing parallels to the notorious River Yala incidents, Wetang’ula warned against Kenya backsliding into a dark era.
“We shudder at the thought of returning to a situation where bodies are found in River Yala and other locations. This is not the Kenya we want,” he said.
The recent discoveries at City Mortuary have sent shockwaves through communities already on edge.
On January 30, two of the three men abducted in Mlolongo last December were found dead. Their fate mirrors that of many others who vanished without a trace.
With public outrage mounting, all eyes are now on President Ruto’s administration.
