NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has ushered in the New Year with a staff breakfast meeting focused on unity, reflection, and renewed commitment to its conservation mandate.
The meeting brought together staff from across the Service. KFS Board Chairman Titus Korir attended as the chief guest.
The forum provided an opportunity to review the previous year’s performance and set priorities for the year ahead.
Korir praised staff for their dedication and resilience. He said KFS delivered commendable results despite operational challenges.
“The new year gives us a chance to do even better,” Korir said.
He assured staff of continued government support to help the Service achieve its objectives. He stressed the importance of teamwork, accountability, and proper delegation of duties.
Korir reaffirmed his full support for all KFS programmes and activities.
Chief Conservator of Forests Alex Lemarkoko echoed the optimism. He said the Service remains committed to fulfilling its mandate.
Lemarkoko highlighted KFS’s role in supporting national tree-growing targets. He said the Service aims to produce one billion tree seedlings annually.
He noted that KFS is operating 17 mega nurseries across the country. The Service is also providing inputs and deploying technical expertise to boost seedling production.
Lemarkoko urged staff to work closely with stakeholders, including the national government. He called on officers to take responsibility for their roles.

“You have our full support as leadership,” he told staff.
The meeting also featured a sermon by Rev. Fr. Paul Miring’u, Deputy Director at the Kenya Prisons Service and National Coordinator.
Drawing from Joshua 1:9, he encouraged staff to remain courageous, disciplined, and steadfast in public service.
Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests Dr. Clement Ng’oriareng closed the meeting. He urged staff to uphold unity and discipline as the Service begins the year.
He said teamwork and shared purpose will remain key as KFS advances forest conservation and restoration efforts nationwide.
